Technical Difficulties
Today is the fist day I have been given access to the internet. Sorry for my lack of blogging. It has been a bit frustrating to tell the truth. I have been limited in my movements to a compound containing Christian homes, a chapel, and the Diocesan Missionary Hospital.
My accommodations are comfortable. I am eating very well. But I am stuck there due to safety concerns. I didn't choose Pakistan because it was safe, but I will trust their wisdom.
Apparently the Bishop wanted me to join him in a neighboring diocese in the FATA (Federally Administered Tribal Areas). But that was far too dangerous. The joke here is that it is the Taliban Administered Tribal Areas.
I have been given a tour of the hospital and it is amazing what is being done with such limited resources. It is also apparent how far we have to go to get high level health care worldwide.
This morning I was invited to worship with the staff of the hospital and rev. Sampson in their morning devotions. It was inspiring. If only Episcopalians would loosen up and sing like that!
The general impression I am getting is that Christians face tremendous hurdles in their social and professional lies in Pakistan, an Islamic Republic. But they carry the gospel with pride and hope.
